In only 1 day 21 hours and 58 minutes ( who's counting?) I leave with my friend Marne Schwartz for a Norway Adventure. We take a shuttle from from the Cle Elum Warrior Gas Station to SeaTac to Frankfurt to Oslo.
I have never been to Norway and frankly it wasn't even on my short list of places to travel. I was thinking St. Petersburg, Russia but Marne being more sane and much more practical convinced me that Russia is a long way off and with only a week, probably better for another time. The hook was that this is the time to begin to view the Northern Lights. Okay I was convinced.
Then I started doing more research on Norway and my excitement grew. Now the problem is fitting in all that I saw was worth seeing. So I convinced myself that this is just a "familiarization tour" to get an idea of what needs to be visited the next time.
I am always up for hiking but have found that this time of year is limited due to the weather and the very short days. I am sure we will fit something in. Hopefully, we can do some cross-country skiing.
To get in the mood for Norway, I watched the John Cleese - To Norway, home of giants on Youtube. Start watching at about 5:50 minutes. What a hoot. I hope to post some pictures recreating this scene :). Good idea John Schooley!
